My go-to energy boosts……

his little and easy to make balls of energy are perfect if you need a quick top-up before stepping out the door. I remember some of my runners turned up to a club session straight from work and felt a little lack in energy, so for the next session I had made then a couple of different flavored energy balls.

Try making these little delights, ready for the next time you need to grab and go.

No-Bake Oat & Nut Balls

*1 Cup of Oats, you may need to stick them

in a blender to break them down.

*2 tablespoons ground cinnamon or ginger

*½ Cup of finely chopped pitted dates

*¼ cup of honey

*¼ cup of water

*¾ cup shredded coconut, to roll in.

Mix into a bowl the oats, pecans, walnuts, dates, and the cinnamon or ginger. Then add in the peanut butter and honey, give it all a good mix. If the mixture is a little dry you may need to add a little more water so it sticks. Roll them into tablespoon-size and then roll them in the shredded coconut.

You can always add in a sachet of Mountain Morning Fuel which will give you even more go.

Mini Pancakes that pack a punch........these little gems I love, I've used these during some of my races including the Lakeland 50 and the Liverpool to Manchester 50.

*1/2 sachet of Morning Fuel

*1/2 banana

*1 large egg

*½ Cup of finely chopped pitted dates

*1 tablespoon ground cinnamon or ginger

*1 tablespoon ground cinnamon or ginger

Simple just mix all the ingredients together, then add a tablespoon of the mixture to a low heated frying pan. Gently fry both sides and then set aside.

Give them ago folks and let me know how you get on and what you think
